TWO PRICING PLATFORMS
Non-handlers/Pet Owners
Working Dog Handlers & Law Enforcement Departments
For those who enjoy the quality of Loreen's work but do not qualify for a donated portrait then the "Operation Paint It Forward" program is for you. K9 Handlers receive a discount off of Loreen's regular full price for a painting, and law enforcement agencies who would like a memorial painting of a department K9 also receive a substantial discount.
Proceeds from each commissioned painting help towards costs of supplies to make it possible for the next military or law enforcement handler of a fallen K9 to receive a donated portrait. You can order a commissioned portrait to be painted of your K9 with the American Flag just like the K9 Heroes in the K9HPP or of your favorite sports team colors, (no logos due to licensing, although a patch may be applied). No other backgrounds are offered.
The same quality, time, (at least 100-150 hours of work), heart and soul will go in to your portrait as it does with each fallen K9 Hero. Each portrait Loreen paints has been said to be "better than realism - they come alive" and are museum displayed and approved.
Commissioned portraits will be placed at the head of the K9HPP queue although completion may take some time due to the overwhelming line of duty K9 portrait requests.
At the time of ordering, a 1/3 deposit to hold your place in the queue is required, then 1/3 at the start of the portrait, with the remaining 1/3 due at the completion. Payment plans over 6 months are available with shipment of portrait after last installment is paid. Shipping fees are additional and will be determined when the painting is completed and ready to ship. If shipping outside of the U.S., additional shipping may be required if not being mailed to an APO. If you would like to request Loreen to do an in-person presentation of the portrait to the handler (if being commissioned by a LE agency), travel and hotel costs are the responsibility of the agency/host.
To ensure the best portrait possible, Loreen has the right to refuse any photos she feels will make painting the portrait too difficult which includes: small, poor quality photo, bad lighting, collage-piecing (asking to take parts from several photos to be combined in to one canine).

18"x24" by 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped, (one K9) - $1000
20"x20" by 1 1/2" deep gallery wrapped, (one K9) - $900
* Non-handler is defined as painting for civilians of family pet or adopted working dog (not owned by the actual person who handled the dog while actively working).
**Working Dog Handler is defined as law enforcement officer (Police, Sheriff, Federal) or military K9 handler who would like a painting of their K9 partner.
***Law Enforcement Officers, departments or organizations wishing to commemorate and memorialize a K9 from their force that has passed due to illness or old age (not line of duty death). The department's patch is a welcome addition to the painting as well as customized messages on the K9's brass nameplate that gets affixed to the painting (see photo below). The department will also receive a personal letter addressed to the handler indicating that their partner is being painted and will be completed, and "brought home again" very soon unless a surprise presentation is requested.
Commission prices are determined by our artist, Loreen Gibbs and she has chosen to offer the deeply discounted prices for handlers and Law Enforcement Departments.
***Your painting is an investment that will be cherished for generations. By participating in the "Operation Painting It Forward Program", you, or the recipient of the painting are receiving a museum-quality piece of the same time and quality that is received by the handlers in the K9HPP program.
NOTE: Commission requests by an agency or individual/small group are NOT tax deductibe since you are receiving something in return to present as a gift to a handler. This is a transaction, and not a donation to the K9 Hero Portrait Project.
Gallery wrapped prints of the final portrait can be purchased, but the image itself will be slightly larger due to the wrapping that occurs in the printing process. The print will be signed by Loreen.
Contact Loreen to request your portrait. All payments are to Loreen Gibbs, NOT the K9HPP.
