Help Sponsor K9 Grim's Tribute Painting
Grim was acquired by Chief McLaughlin and the Belmont Police Department in 2012 from Fox Hill Farms and K9 in Amesbury after receiving a donation to fund and establish a K9 program. It would be the first K9 Team in the history of the department. Officer Cory Taylor was selected as the handler for the team. Additionally, Grim and Officer Taylor were the pilot program for what is now established as the “Stanton Grant”.
The Stanton Grant is funded by the Stanton Foundation, and it assists police departments in purchasing and setting up K9 programs. The foundation has assisted hundreds of departments in the Northeastern United States with establishing K9 programs. Chief McLaughlin (ret.) sits on the board and is now a director with the program which he had helped in establishing.
Grim served the Belmont Police Department until the age of 10, when he was retired in 2020. Grim had over 100 deployments with the Belmont Police Department, as well surrounding departments. He also served on the NEMLEC K-9 Unit.
After retiring Grim lived with Officer Taylor and his family.
This tribute painting will be started this summer and hopefully presented before the year is out. We have 8 heroes in the queue currently being worked on but I will start Grim as soon as an easel is freed up!
We will be presenting a plaque along with Grim's painting that will have the names of everyone who contributes towards his tribute painting.
